Portsmouth African Oasis is a group that promotes the benefit of people of African descent who live in Portsmouth and surrounding areas without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, disability, age or political, religious or other opinions in a common effort to advance education and provide facilities on an intercultural basis in the interest of social welfare for recreation and leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.
PAO will further provide opportunities for contact, communication and mutual support amongst Africans as well as the promotion of understanding of African culture and history in the wider community of Portsmouth and surrounding areas.
The Group is non-party in politics and non-sectarian in religion.
Membership is open to all Africans, those of the African descent and those who have strong interest in Africa irrespective of sex, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, nationality, age, disability or political, religious or other opinion.
